PIM + Alkemics: Bonduelle’s winning approach to ensuring quality product information

Five brands and hundreds of products: to ensure quality product information at this scale, Bonduelle uses their PIM system alongside the Alkemics platform. This also helps them make the most of their collaborative efforts, for the benefit of their customers.

How does Bonduelle provide their customers with accurate and detailed product data, in line with all applicable regulations? “The answer is, first and foremost, teamwork,” noted Sabine Level, Quality Coordinator for Bonduelle Europe Long Life.
Achieving this begins with an in-depth data collection process, communicating with suppliers to accurately identify all ingredients. “This is not easy, as we request a great deal of information about various different ingredient categories in order to meet the Group’s requirements, beyond the French and European regulations.” A meticulous but essential task. “Management expects rigorous attention to product data quality, so we have to meet the challenge and ensure compliant labelling.

Well-managed and easily-accessible data

Once the information has been collected, it is still necessary to ensure that consumers receive accurate product data. “The validation process for our product data sheets includes 4 different stages with 4 separate teams,” explained Sabrina Lenne, Commerce & Marketing Manager in Bonduelle’s IT systems department. “The Supply teams create the product page. The Quality department collects and verifies the data, notably data related to INCO regulations. The Marketing department then enriches the content, notably by adding packaging visuals. Finally, the trade team makes the decision to launch file exports.

A single reliable source of information for all partner retailers

Regardless of whether the data exports are for online or offline retailers, the process remains the same. Throughout the process, a PIM centralises the product information, while the Alkemics platform synchronizes this data with retailers’ websites.
This synchronization works perfectly,” explained Sabrina Lenne. “In order to monitor our data, we prefer to launch it manually. There are numerous benefits: with Alkemics, we don’t need to manage flows for each retailer, which saves us time on data processing and ensures that updates to our data are consistent. Moreover, our communications are centralized. In terms of everyday use, the platform’s built-in chat is proving to be an effective way to address targeted comments on our products.

An effective process that ensures high-quality product information from start to finish

This data synchronization process currently includes 584 products for 2 of Bonduelle’s brands. “Using our PIM with Alkemics provides an effective workflow that ensures high-quality and accurate product information from start to finish,” stated Sabrina Lenne. “But other platforms also collect product information elsewhere. We aim to identify these platforms, get in touch with them, and ideally provide information via Alkemics.

Bonduelle also looks to Alkemics for reporting features, notably to monitor product data completeness and the quality of visuals. “Based on reporting, we can improve our data quality and continuously ensure the accuracy of our data, for the benefit of the final consumer.” This has been a success: the rate of regulatory data completeness for the entire range has now reached 98%, compared to 88% in November of 2017.

Going beyond quality: rich video content

Enhancing product pages with video is one of the company’s next objectives – after a testing period, around forty videos will appear on Bonduelle product pages on retailer sites. Bonduelle is also going even further in terms of transparency, notably by launching Nutri-ScoreTo inform consumers and offer a range of products in line with our commitment to encouraging a diet rich in fruits and vegetables.” explained Sabine Level. Nutri-Score is already present on the Alkemics platform.
